We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with one of Eastern Uganda’s fastest-rising music stars, Bling Dizzo, hailing from Mbale. Known for his unique sound, versatility, and commitment to his craft, Bling Dizzo is steadily carving a name for himself in Uganda’s music industry. In this interview, he shares insights into his musical journey, inspirations, challenges, and aspirations.

Can you tell us about yourself and what inspired the stage name “Bling Dizzo”?
I am Moses Ndaula alias Bling Dizzo, an artist born in Mbale, Eastern Uganda and also a great grandchild in the Late Semei Kakungulu family heritage. The name “Bling” comes from shiny jewellery—just like how jewellery shines, I’m shining musically. “Dizzo” is short for design, so I’m a shining designer. That’s how I see myself and my artistry.
When and how did your music journey begin?
My music journey began in high school. I used to mime songs by Peter Miles, Uganda’s number-one Reggae dancehall sensation—big up Peter Miles! His music inspired me, and I got the confidence to start creating my sound.
How would you describe your music style, and what sets you apart from other artists in Eastern Uganda?
I do all styles of music because I trust my voice and versatility. It’s up to the fans to decide which style they like the most that best fits their ears. While I’m proud to be Eastern-born, I sing for Uganda, Africa, and the world. That’s what sets me apart—my vision goes beyond borders.
What are some key milestones or highlights of your music career?
One big highlight is that my work speaks for itself. I have met amazing new friends, and, at this point, I don’t sing for free anymore—people see the value and pay for my talent.
How long have you been in the music industry, and how has your experience shaped your journey?
I have been in the industry for a few years now—not too long, but long enough to grow. The experience has taught me to voice myself in the studio, and I’m even learning to play musical instruments.
Who or what are your biggest inspirations, both musically and personally?
I’m inspired by artists making good music—locally and globally. I’m inspired by intelligent people because I believe in always learning and growing.
What message do you aim to convey through your music, and why is it important to you?
I want to inspire people. For example, I have a song called Sente, which speaks to everyone because, in this world, everyone is working hard to make money. My music is relatable and universal.
Where do you see yourself and your music career in the next five to ten years?
Only God knows for sure, but I see myself leading the world musically. That’s the goal I’m working toward every day.
Could you tell us about the music projects you’ve worked on so far? Are there any standout songs or albums?
I’ve worked on songs like Sente, Percent, Mpya Tuku, Otilibiza, and my latest single, Wa. Each one has been special in its way.
Have you collaborated with other artists? If yes, who are they, and how has collaboration influenced your music?
Yes, I collaborated with Santana on Mpya Tuku. Collaborations are great because they bring new energy and ideas. Many more collabs are on the way, so stay tuned.
Are there any specific artists, locally or internationally, you aspire to work with in the future?
Locally, I would love to work with any talented artist. Internationally, my dream is to work with Rihanna.
What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a musician from Mbale, Eastern Uganda?
Challenges are part of the journey, and they make me stronger. I don’t let them slow me down.
How have you managed to navigate the music industry and keep your career on track despite these challenges?
I don’t give time to negative energy. I stay positive and focused on my goals.
What projects or releases can your fans expect shortly?
Work is in progress—just know there’s more music coming!
How do you plan to give back to the community or inspire upcoming artists in Eastern Uganda?
I am planning to get involved in community work soon. I will keep everyone updated on that.
How do you balance your personal life and music career?
I am Moses, and musically, I’m Bling Dizzo. I know how to separate the two—guess you can relate!
What does success mean to you as an artist?
Success means being rich musically and financially forever and having influential friends like the president.
What role do your fans play in your music journey, and how do you stay connected with them?
My fans mean everything to me. They share my music, view it, and book me for shows. I stay connected by responding to messages online and engaging with them directly.
What advice would you give to young, aspiring musicians trying to break into the industry?
Work hard, work smart, and stay humble. Respect is crucial—it will take you far.
